Can a simple nebulizer mist stop Post-Surgery sore throat?
NCT ID NCT07491991
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether spraying a mix of budesonide and lidocaine directly on the voice box during thyroid surgery could prevent the common problem of sore throat afterward. 96 adults having thyroid surgery with nerve monitoring were randomly assigned to get either the drug mist or a saltwater mist. The goal was to see if the drug combination reduced pain and other throat symptoms better than plain saline.
