Can a dose of nature cure the campus mental health crisis?
NCT ID NCT06633367
Summary
This study tested whether encouraging university students to spend more time outdoors in nature could improve their mental health and feelings of distress. Researchers used a phone app to track students' nature exposure and randomly assigned some to receive extra encouragement to get outside. The goal was to see if this was a helpful and fair way to address mental health struggles, especially for students of color who may face more barriers to accessing natural spaces.
