Nanoparticle showdown: could tiny particles ease root canal pain?

NCT ID NCT07571837

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two nano-sized medications placed inside the tooth after a root canal retreatment to see which better controls inflammation and pain. Sixty-three adults with a failed prior root canal and a visible infection at the tooth tip will be randomly assigned to receive either nano-calcium hydroxide or nano-chitosan. Researchers will measure immune markers in fluid from around the tooth and ask about pain levels to determine which treatment works best.
