Drug used for overdose reversals tested to stop Seizure-Related deaths
NCT ID NCT02332447
Summary
This study tested whether a single dose of naloxone (a medication that reverses opioid effects) given right after a major seizure could help patients breathe better and recover faster. Researchers enrolled 485 adults with hard-to-treat epilepsy who were being monitored in the hospital. If a patient had a major seizure, they were randomly given either naloxone or a placebo injection to see if it reduced dangerous drops in oxygen levels that can sometimes lead to sudden death.
