Can a urea cream beat vaseline for nail psoriasis?

NCT ID NCT07546032

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jul 29, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests a cream called PROXERA PSOMED 30, which contains 30% urea, for treating nail psoriasis. 21 adults with nail psoriasis will apply the cream to one nail and Vaseline to another nail twice daily for 24 weeks. Researchers will compare how much each nail improves using a standard severity score. The goal is to see if the cream works better than plain Vaseline at reducing nail symptoms.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
PROXERA PSOMED 30 nail cream (30% urea)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug cream to ease nail psoriasis symptoms like thickening and discoloration.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early trial with only 21 people. The cream may not work better than Vaseline, and results may not apply to everyone with nail psoriasis.
