New pathway aims to catch silent liver disease in veterans
NCT ID NCT06671886
First seen Nov 16, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests a new care pathway designed to help primary care doctors at VA clinics better identify and treat Veterans with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a common but often undiagnosed liver condition linked to obesity and diabetes. The pathway automatically flags at-risk patients and educates providers on best practices. Researchers will compare this approach to usual care in 32 primary care teams to see if it increases diagnosis rates and referrals to specialists.
