New test strategy aims to cut unnecessary liver specialist visits
NCT ID NCT04435054
Summary
This study aimed to find the best way to screen for advanced liver scarring (fibrosis) in people at high risk, such as those with type 2 diabetes or obesity. Researchers tested combinations of simple blood tests and a special ultrasound scan in 1,000 patients to see which method was most accurate. The goal was to help doctors identify who truly needs to see a liver specialist, reducing unnecessary referrals.
