Sleep apnea pill tested for hidden gender effects
NCT ID NCT06311045
Summary
This small study is testing whether a supplement called N-acetylcysteine (NAC) affects the body's stress and inflammation levels differently in men and women with obstructive sleep apnea. Participants already using standard sleep apnea therapy will take either NAC or a placebo for four weeks. The main goal is to see if NAC changes specific blood markers related to cell stress and blood vessel health, and if those changes depend on the person's sex.
