Common supplement studied to protect MS Patients' brains

NCT ID NCT03032601

Summary

This study is testing whether N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), an antioxidant supplement, can help protect brain function in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Researchers will use brain scans to measure changes in brain metabolism and inflammation in 55 MS patients who receive either NAC or standard care alone. The goal is to see if NAC reduces brain damage from oxidative stress and improves patients' quality of life.
