Antioxidant may shield patients from Chemo's painful side effect

NCT ID NCT07391163

Summary

This study tested whether a common antioxidant supplement, N-Acetylcysteine (NAC), could protect against nerve damage caused by a chemotherapy drug for colorectal cancer. Forty-six patients receiving oxaliplatin chemotherapy were randomly assigned to also receive NAC or not. The main goal was to see if NAC could reduce the incidence and severity of tingling, numbness, and pain in the hands and feet.
