Asthma Mucus-Buster trial halted early

NCT ID NCT03822637

Summary

This study tested whether a mucus-thinning drug called NAC could improve breathing in adults with moderate-to-severe asthma who had visible mucus plugs in their lungs on CT scans. Participants received either NAC or a placebo for two weeks, then switched. The trial was terminated early after enrolling only 4 people, so no clear results are available.
