Common mucus drug tested as lifeline for critically ill COVID patients
NCT ID NCT04374461
Summary
This study is testing whether N-acetylcysteine, a medication already used for other conditions, can help the immune system fight severe COVID-19. Researchers are giving it to 48 hospitalized patients who are either in intensive care on a ventilator or need significant oxygen support. The main goal is to see if patients improve enough to leave critical care, come off the ventilator, or avoid needing these interventions.
