First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tested a device called MyotonPro to see if it can measure the stiffness and tone of facial muscles in people with facial paralysis. Researchers compared it to standard electromyography (EMG) to check if it's a reliable, non-invasive way to track recovery after facial reanimation surgery. The study involved 40 adults with one-sided facial nerve palsy who could sit independently.
