Can a contact lens reshape your eye in just one hour?
NCT ID NCT07155551
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether three different prototype soft contact lenses can cause a short-term change in the thickness of the choroid (a layer at the back of the eye) in people with nearsightedness (myopia). Twenty volunteers aged 18 to 25 will wear each lens for one hour, and the thickness will be measured before and after. The goal is to see if the lenses have an immediate effect, which could inform future designs for managing myopia.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
prototype soft contact lenses
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help researchers understand how contact lens design might influence eye structures linked to myopia progression.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study (20 people) measuring only a short-term effect after 1 hour. It does not test whether the lenses actually slow or prevent myopia.
