Classroom lights and phone apps aim to stop Kids' Short-Sightedness
NCT ID NCT06631339
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests two ways to prevent or slow myopia (short-sightedness) in children aged 7 to 10. One group gets special classroom lights that mimic sunlight, another group's parents get a smartphone app that encourages more outdoor time, and a third group gets standard care. Over one year, researchers will track how children's eyes change and also look at sleep and thinking skills.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide simple, non-invasive ways to prevent or slow down myopia in children using light exposure.
