Soothing tunes may ease kids' dental anxiety during gas sedation
NCT ID NCT05720689
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether playing relaxing music during dental treatment with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) helps children aged 4 to 12 feel more comfortable and reduces the need for general anesthesia. About 177 children will have two dental sessions—one with music and one without—to compare how well the sedation works. The goal is to find a simple, non-drug way to improve dental care for kids who are anxious or have special needs.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to make dental visits less stressful for children, reducing the need for general anesthesia.
What could go wrong
