New hope to fight muscle wasting in liver disease

NCT ID NCT03208868

Summary

This study is testing whether a special nutritional supplement containing the amino acid leucine can help rebuild lost muscle in people with liver cirrhosis. Muscle loss is a common and serious problem in cirrhosis that increases the risk of complications. Researchers will compare the supplement to a placebo mixture in 32 participants over 3 months to see if it increases muscle protein production and mass.
