New combo therapy aims to stop the spins in common inner ear disorder
NCT ID NCT07576088
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding balance training, education, and vestibular rehab to the standard Epley maneuver helps people with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) more than the maneuver alone. Forty-six adults with BPPV will receive either the combined approach or standard care over four weeks. Researchers will measure changes in balance, dizziness, fear of falling, and quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Multimodal physiotherapy (vestibular rehabilitation, patient education, balance training) plus Epley maneuver
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a more effective treatment plan for BPPV that reduces dizziness and fall risk better than standard care alone.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 46 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The added benefit of the extra therapy may be small or not last long-term.
