Blood test for many cancers put to the test in Real-World study
NCT ID NCT06962995
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This Mayo Clinic study is observing 500 adults who have had or will have a multi-cancer detection (MCD) blood test. Researchers want to see how these tests affect medical decisions, patient emotions, and satisfaction in everyday practice. Participants will give blood samples and fill out surveys about their experience. The goal is to understand the real-world impact of MCD testing, not to test a new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show how multi-cancer detection tests fit into routine care and whether they help find cancers earlier without causing unnecessary worry or extra costs.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not prove whether the test saves lives or reduces cancer deaths. Results may be limited by the small number of participants and short follow-up.
