New drug shows promise for rare scleroderma in phase 2 trial

Summary
This study tested an experimental drug called MT-7117 in 76 adults with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes skin thickening and organ damage. Participants received either the drug or a placebo for 52 weeks. The main goal was to see if MT-7117 improves a combined measure of disease activity, including skin tightness, lung function, and daily function. The trial is complete, and results will help determine if the drug is safe and effective enough for further testing.
