Brain scan breakthrough? study tests if MRI targeting makes depression treatment faster, more effective
NCT ID NCT07043738
Summary
This study aims to determine if using MRI brain scans to target a rapid depression treatment works better than using scalp measurements. Researchers will compare two methods of guiding accelerated transcranial magnetic stimulation (aTMS), a non-invasive brain stimulation treatment, in 160 adults with difficult-to-treat depression. The goal is to see if the more expensive MRI approach provides enough additional benefit to justify its use in clinical practice.
