New scan could replace risky scopes for liver patients
NCT ID NCT07450651
Summary
This study aims to develop a safer, non-invasive way to check for dangerous, bleeding-prone veins (called high-risk varices) in people with hepatitis B-related liver scarring (cirrhosis). Researchers will analyze data from 150 patients who have already had both a standard invasive scope test and a special type of MRI scan. They will see if the MRI scan results can accurately predict which patients do NOT have these dangerous veins, which could help many people avoid the uncomfortable and risky scope procedure in the future.
