New brain scan could tell doctors if a Child's epilepsy surgery will work

NCT ID NCT04451278

Summary

This study is testing whether a special type of brain scan, called a resting-state functional MRI, can help predict if surgery will successfully control seizures in children with drug-resistant epilepsy. Researchers will analyze brain network patterns from the scans of 200 children aged 6-18 who are scheduled for surgery. The goal is to find a way to give doctors and families better information about the likely outcome of the operation before it happens.
