Smart scans aim to spare healthy lungs during cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT06925295

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether special MRI scans with xenon gas can show which parts of the lung work best. Doctors then aim to aim radiation away from those healthy areas during lung cancer treatment. The goal is to learn if this approach reduces lung damage and helps breathing. About 15 adults with lung cancer who are scheduled for radiation therapy will take part.
