New MRI-Guided radiation aims to zap abdominal tumors with fewer side effects
NCT ID NCT06604533
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether using real-time MRI to guide radiation therapy can better control abdominal cancer that has spread to a few spots. Thirty adults with certain cancers (like colorectal or breast) will receive high-dose, precisely targeted radiation. The goal is to improve local tumor control while reducing damage to nearby organs.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
MRI-guided stereotactic adaptive radiotherapy (SABR)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could offer better tumor control and fewer side effects for people with abdominal cancer that has spread to a few spots.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment is complex and may still cause side effects.
