Doctors test Real-Time MRI scans to boost rectal cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT05108428

Summary

This early-phase study is testing whether using MRI scans to guide and adjust radiation therapy in real-time is a practical approach for treating rectal cancer. It involves 20 adults with locally advanced rectal adenocarcinoma who have not had prior pelvic radiation. The main goal is to see if this personalized, image-guided method is feasible and if it helps more patients achieve a complete response where no cancer is detectable after treatment.
