New MRI technique could spot hidden lung damage early

NCT ID NCT07493187

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether advanced MRI scans can detect low oxygen areas in the lungs of people with early-stage idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a rare scarring lung disease. Researchers will enroll 50 participants to see if MRI can identify patients whose disease might progress, potentially guiding future treatments. The goal is to better understand the disease, not to provide a direct treatment.
