New MRI technique could spot hidden lung damage early

NCT ID NCT07493187

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study uses advanced MRI scans to look at oxygen levels in the lungs of people with early-stage idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a type of lung scarring. The goal is to see if MRI can find areas with low oxygen, which might help doctors identify patients who could benefit from new targeted treatments. About 50 adults with early IPF will be enrolled. The study does not test any drug; it only observes and measures lung features using imaging.
