New MRI test could spare pancreatic cancer patients from needless surgery

NCT ID NCT07252076

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether an MRI scan can detect tiny liver metastases that standard CT scans miss in people with pancreatic cancer. About 120 adults with newly diagnosed pancreatic cancer will get both a CT and an MRI before treatment. If MRI proves better at finding hidden cancer spread, it could help doctors choose the right treatment and avoid unnecessary operations.
