Could a simple MRI replace needle biopsies for fatty liver disease?

NCT ID NCT06626074

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether new MRI techniques can detect NASH, the serious form of fatty liver disease, without needing a liver biopsy. Researchers will compare MRI results with biopsy findings in 60 adults already scheduled for both tests. If successful, this could lead to a safer, non-invasive way to diagnose NASH.
