New sensor could spot panic in the MRI tube

NCT ID NCT03384849

Summary

This study tested a special, metal-free sensor mat placed under a patient's back during an MRI scan. The mat measured the patient's breathing rate and heart rate to see if these signals could reliably detect anxiety or claustrophobia. Researchers compared these measurements to standard anxiety questionnaires filled out by 200 patients before and after their scans.
