Smart radiation: new trial aims to zap lingering lymphoma cells
NCT ID NCT07517705
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether using a blood test (MRD) after two cycles of chemoimmunotherapy can guide the use of low-dose radiation in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Patients with detectable cancer DNA in their blood may receive targeted radiation to remaining spots on PET scans, while those with no detectable DNA continue standard therapy. The goal is to see if this personalized approach is feasible and safe.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Low-dose radiation therapy combined with standard chemoimmunotherapy (R-CHOP or similar regimens)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could help personalize treatment for lymphoma, potentially improving response rates by targeting residual disease early.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase feasibility study (50 participants) and not yet recruiting. The added radiation may not improve outcomes and could increase side effects.
