New drug tested to help control painful arthritis symptoms

NCT ID NCT01143337

Summary

This study tested whether adding an experimental drug called MP-435 to standard methotrexate treatment could better control rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. It involved 112 adults with active arthritis who weren't getting enough relief from methotrexate alone. Participants received either MP-435 or a placebo pill for 12 weeks while continuing their regular methotrexate, to see if the combination reduced joint pain and swelling more effectively.
