New drug tested to tame arthritis flares

NCT ID NCT01143337

Summary

This study tested whether adding an experimental drug called MP-435 to a standard medication (methotrexate) could better control rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. It involved 112 adults whose arthritis was not fully controlled by methotrexate alone. For 12 weeks, participants received either MP-435 or a placebo (dummy pill) in addition to their regular methotrexate to compare safety and effectiveness.
