First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking moxidectin twice a year is safer and more effective than taking it once a year for treating river blindness, a parasitic disease that can cause severe itching and vision loss. About 323 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo will receive either moxidectin or ivermectin once or twice a year. The goal is to keep the parasite levels in the skin undetectable and reduce side effects.
