Movies replace anesthesia for kids in cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT05148078

Summary

This study tested a special movie system called PROMISE to help children with cancer stay still during radiation therapy without needing general anesthesia. The system plays a movie but pauses it if the child moves too much, encouraging them to hold still. Researchers hoped this would reduce the number of young children needing anesthesia from 70% down to 30%, making treatment safer and less stressful for kids and families.
