Mouthwash may shield cancer patients from painful drug side effect

Summary

This study is testing if a steroid mouthwash can prevent painful mouth sores, a common side effect of a cancer drug called datopotamab deruxtecan. It will enroll 60 adults with advanced breast or lung cancer who are receiving this drug. The main goal is to see if using the mouthwash for the first few treatment cycles lowers the rate of mouth sores by 20%.
