Can Brain-and-Body workouts help Parkinson's patients walk better?
NCT ID NCT07465107
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a 12-week exercise program that combines balance, treadmill walking with mental tasks, and leg strengthening can improve gait and balance in people with moderate-to-advanced Parkinson's disease. 48 participants will be randomly assigned to either the exercise program plus usual care, or usual care alone. The main goal is to see if the program is feasible and acceptable, with a future larger study planned if results are promising.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
motor-cognitive exercise program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a practical, drug-free way to improve mobility and reduce falls in people with moderate-to-advanced Parkinson's disease.
What could go wrong
This is a small feasibility study (48 people) with no blinding, so results may not be conclusive or generalizable. The exercise program is demanding and may be hard for some participants to complete.
