First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tested whether montelukast, a drug used for asthma, can reduce heart damage caused by the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin in breast cancer patients. Fifty adults with breast cancer were randomly assigned to receive either montelukast or a placebo alongside their chemotherapy. Researchers measured levels of two heart-related markers in the blood before and after treatment to see if montelukast offered protection.
