Microdialysis probe could spot deadly pancreatic leaks hours earlier

NCT ID NCT03631173

First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026

Summary

This study tests a thin monitoring probe placed near the surgical site after pancreatic cancer surgery. The probe measures substances like lactic acid and glycerol to detect internal leaks early, before the patient becomes seriously ill. About 200 adults having this surgery will be randomly assigned to receive the probe or standard care. The goal is to see if early detection reduces hospital stays and complications.
