Rosacea study: does your moisturizer block your medicine?

NCT ID NCT06434519

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using a moisturizer before applying the rosacea medication metronidazole changes how much of the drug gets into the skin. Twenty-one adults with rosacea had different moisturizers and metronidazole applied to their faces, then had small sticky strips gently pressed and removed to collect skin samples. The goal was to see if the common practice of layering moisturizer affects treatment, with no direct benefit to participants.
