New algorithm aims to make insulin dosing safer for diabetes patients
NCT ID NCT07599982
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a new tool called MODI, which is a smart algorithm that helps people with diabetes figure out the right amount of insulin to take. About 100 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes will use the MODI system along with a continuous glucose monitor for 13 weeks. The main goal is to see if using MODI is safe and doesn't increase dangerous low blood sugar episodes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
MODI insulin titration algorithm (a device that helps adjust insulin doses)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a safer, easier way for people with diabetes to manage their insulin doses using a smart algorithm.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage, single-arm trial with no comparison group, so results may not be definitive. The algorithm may not work well for all users or could lead to low blood sugar events.
