Can brain scans predict language delays in preterm babies?

NCT ID NCT05397197

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at how being born moderately early (32-36 weeks) affects the way babies' brains process speech sounds and learn words. Researchers will use EEG to measure brain responses to syllables in 160 infants, comparing those born preterm to full-term babies. The goal is to find early signs that could predict language delays, so children can get help sooner.
