Can a smartphone exercise app help older cancer patients feel stronger?
NCT ID NCT04981821
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a mobile app exercise program can improve physical function and reduce fatigue in older adults (age 60+) with myeloid neoplasms, a type of blood cancer. Participants will either use the app for guided walking and resistance exercises or receive standard educational materials. The goal is to see if the app helps patients stay active and feel better during chemotherapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
mobile app exercise program (GO-EXCAP)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, at-home exercise program to help older cancer patients stay stronger and less tired during treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase pilot study, so results may not be conclusive. The exercise program may not improve outcomes for everyone, and some patients may find it hard to follow.
