Can a smartphone app keep young leukemia patients on track?
NCT ID NCT03932903
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests a mobile app called ADAPTS designed to help teenagers and young adults with leukemia remember to take their oral chemotherapy. The app sends personalized messages based on the user's mood, pain, or location. The goal is to see if the app is easy to use and acceptable to patients, not yet to measure health outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ADAPTS mobile app intervention
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a practical tool to help young patients take their chemotherapy as prescribed, potentially improving treatment outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a very early feasibility study with only 60 participants, so it won't prove the app improves health. Technical glitches or low engagement may limit its usefulness.
