First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 31, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a smartphone app called Connections can help people with alcohol-related liver disease stop drinking. About 298 participants from two medical centers will use the app along with their usual care, or just receive usual care alone. The goal is to see if the app helps them stay sober and improve their liver health over six months.

- What this could lead to
- If successful, this app could become a widely used tool to help people with alcohol-related liver disease stay sober and prevent their liver disease from getting worse.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage study testing a mobile app, not a new drug. The app may not be more effective than usual care, and results may not apply to all patients or clinics.
