App-Based education boosts diabetes Self-Care in teens
NCT ID NCT07499076
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a mobile app that teaches teenagers with type 1 diabetes how to better manage their condition. 96 teens aged 12-18 were split into two groups: one used the app, the other received standard care. Researchers measured changes in diabetes knowledge, self-confidence, and blood sugar levels (HbA1c). The goal was to see if app-based education could improve daily diabetes management.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
mobile application-based education program
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could provide a scalable, engaging way to help teenagers with type 1 diabetes improve their self-management skills and blood sugar control.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study (96 participants) testing a behavioral intervention, not a drug. Results may not apply to all teens, and the app's long-term impact on diabetes outcomes remains uncertain.
