First seen Feb 10, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looked at a protein called MMP-9, which is known to break down joint tissue in rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers measured MMP-9 gene variations in 60 people with active rheumatoid arthritis and compared them to 30 healthy volunteers. The goal was to better understand how this protein contributes to joint damage, not to test a new treatment.
