AI takes on cancer treatment: smarter radiation planning may ease side effects
NCT ID NCT05979883
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether using artificial intelligence (machine learning) to plan radiation treatment could reduce side effects for people with head and neck cancer. 204 adults receiving radiation therapy were randomly assigned to either AI-assisted or standard treatment planning. The main goal was to see if the AI approach improved swallowing function and reduced other side effects reported by patients and doctors.
