New hope for High-Risk heart patients: testing a lifesaving valve procedure
NCT ID NCT04408430
Summary
This study is testing a less invasive procedure to replace a severely calcified mitral heart valve in patients who are too high-risk for standard open-heart surgery. Doctors will implant a new valve using a catheter inserted through a vein, aiming to improve symptoms and reduce hospitalizations. The study will compare outcomes for about 110 patients receiving this procedure against up to 100 similar patients receiving medication only.
