New hope for heart shock patients? valve repair trial launches

NCT ID NCT05298124

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026

Summary

This study tests a procedure called transcatheter mitral valve repair (TEER) for people in cardiogenic shock (severe heart failure) who also have a leaky mitral valve. About 144 participants will be randomly assigned to either standard medical therapy or the valve repair. The goal is to see if the repair helps more people survive without needing a heart transplant or long-term support.
